BAD NEWS

They cancelled my race!!! How could they do that to me! I found this out AFTER I gave my ankle/foot an ice bath last night. If I'd known that I didn't have to toughen up for my huge 5 mile run, I would've forgone the excruciating pain. How do you people SIT in ice?

We haven't talked about it with The Dude yet. I imagine he's going to be mightily disappointed that he won't be able to run in a race like Mommy. Plus, he'll have to wait to wear his costume now.

oh that sucks!!!!

ice baths aren't that bad. it really helps if you get in while it is filling up so that you can get used to it before you stick your entire body in it. I wish I would have kept up with these because I had a lot less leg pain while I was doing these twice a week. Also you can just use cold water and leave the ice out to get used to it

Leah is a masochist (sp) the only way I can get through an ice bath is with a sweatshirt on, shorts on a hot cup of coffee and a magazine. I am a vet of a whopping two but with this strategy that are not to bad. :)

Oh man...that really sucks. I'm sorry.

And honestly...after you've tortured your body with all those miles, an ice bath is divine. I'm with Leah on the whole, sit in there while it fills up approach. I'll usually only do an ice bath for distances over 15. Once my body is over the initial 30-second shock, it feels great. I bring a book in with me and it's over before i know it.

Ice Baths.....Aaahhhhh.........
(the screen fades to black. Opens on a field with a football team ending practice during two-a-days)

the fond memories of the silver tubs after pratice during two-a-days filled to the top with ice. It was a race to see who ever got there first every time becasue you knew it would make the pain go away!!

You can imagine how many football Players can fit in an old silver watering tub.

I agree that the ice bath is a great thing!!! You just have to get past your first time. Right Bridgette HAHAHA!

Sorry to hear about the race - that is strange! There will be plenty of others coming up this year still...

as for ice baths - I think us guys have it worse...I'll spare the details...but it makes the legs feel so much better after a tough run.
